ARTEL is a group of professional artists who collaborate to exhibit their work whilst establishing a dynamic community. Working in the South Downs area, each artist has developed a unique and informed practice. The artwork from this covers a rich and diverse range of subjects and media shared through an annual show in Chichester at the Oxmarket Contemporary gallery.

THE SPACE BETWEEN - 2025

Tiffany Robinson MA

burnished wood panel
60cm x 122cm
Title “Portal Sky”

Between shadow and light, form and spirit, are the liminal edges and waking dreams.

Like doorways to other worlds that transcend lostness and grief.

If you stalk them, gently, you might see more than
a sun or a moon,
or light on a Sussex footpath tunnelled by hazel, blackthorn, bramble, and beech,
or clouds like blousy rays of heaven,
or a flat burned piece of wood panel.

What can you see with your imagination, beyond the materiality of things?

What if you could weave both to recognise something lost or tingling at the edges of your knowing, your remembering, in the space between dark and light, earth and sky, wood and fire?

Nature whispers remembrance of who you are, if you look with the eyes of your dreaming Soul for that which lights you.

Each plywood panel is burnished, the designs emerging from memories, dreams, places, changing the surface as the heat meets the wood.
